NSS SCSE KIIT Organizes Nasha Mukti Rally to Promote a Drug-Free Society
The NSS Unit of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, KIIT-DU, organized a Nasha MuktiRally on 22nd August 2026atTarini Vihar Slum, near Utkal Hospital, Bhubaneswar, with the participation of over 65 NSS volunteers, to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote the message of a Drug-Free India and Drug-Free Odisha. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, who carried awareness messages and interacted with residents and households in the community. Volunteers sensitized people about the physical, mental, and social consequences of substance abuse and encouraged community members, particularly young people, to stay away from addictive substances and adopt healthier lifestyles.
The initiative successfully promoted health awareness, community engagement, and social responsibility, while reinforcing the importance of collective action in building a healthier and addiction-free society. The programme contributed to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting awareness about substance abuse prevention and healthy living, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)through community-level awareness and outreach among vulnerable sections of society.

The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Dr. Raghunath Dey, Dr. Subhashree Darshana, Dr. Minakhi Rout, and Dr. Ajaya Kumar Parida, NSS Programme Officers of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, with support from the KIIT NSS Bureau. The programme was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, NSS Programme Coordinator, and Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer, whose constant encouragement ensured its smooth and successful execution. The NSS Unit of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, KIIT-DU, expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS and KIMS, whose visionary leadership and the philosophy of Art of Giving continue to inspire NSS volunteers to serve society with compassion, responsibility, and a spirit of selfless service.
