Achyuta Samanta Elected First President of Indian UniSport Federation

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS and KIMS, has been unanimously elected the first President of the Indian UniSport Federation (IUSF) at its inaugural Annual General Meeting in New Delhi. His election recognises his contributions to sports in different capacities, particularly through KIIT and KISS.

Recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the Federation aims to encourage students from government and private universities to take up sports, provide them with training and prepare them for international events, particularly the World University Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympics.

At the meeting, the Federation decided that students would not be charged a fee to participate in its sports events. It also decided to reduce the fees for government and private universities by 50 per cent.

Dr. Samanta thanked Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and the Ministry for their support and recognition of the new Federation. He expressed hope that IUSF would help young athletes fulfil their ambitions and contribute to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for sports in India.
