KIIT IEEE IES 5-Day Summer Refresher Programme 2026 Concludes at KIIT-DU
The School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University, organized the KIIT IEEE IES 5-Day Summer Refresher Programme 2026 on “Electrification for Sustainable Energy Transition: Advanced Technologies for Smart Grids and Net-Zero Energy Systems” from 16 to 20 June 2026 in hybrid mode. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 70 participants from India and abroad. It was organized in association with the IEEE IES Bhubaneswar Hub and Nodes.
The inaugural ceremony was held on 16 June 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Campus-6. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU, addressed the gathering and encouraged participants to engage with emerging technologies in sustainable and intelligent energy systems. Prof. Milos Manic, Professor, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, and Chair, IEEE IES Hubs and Nodes, joined virtually as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful address. Prof. Akshay Kumar Rathore, Professor, National University of Singapore, Singapore, was physically present as the Guest of Honour and delivered an inspiring keynote address on “Advanced Technologies for Smart Grids and Net-Zero Energy Systems.” Prof. Premalata Jena, Professor, IIT Roorkee, also graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and addressed the participants online. Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, Dean, School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT-DU, delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Alivarani Mohapatra, Associate Professor and Associate Dean (Research), School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT-DU, proposed the vote of thanks during the inaugural ceremony.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, Dr. Alivarani Mohapatra, Dr. Babita Panda, and Dr. K.V.V.S.R. Chowdary.
The five-day programme featured expert sessions by eminent academicians and professionals from reputed national and international institutions. The sessions covered grid-integrated solar systems, cyber intrusion resiliency in smart grids, microgrid resource planning, power quality enhancement, PV-UPQC systems, model predictive control, power electronics for renewable integration, battery energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, boost inverters, and decarbonization trends.
The valedictory ceremony was held on 20 June 2026 at Conference Hall 1, Campus-6. Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director, School of Electrical Engineering, addressed the participants and appreciated the successful conduct of the programme.
