Food Awareness and Social Responsibility
The NSS Unit of the School of Computer Engineering, KIIT-DU, organized an Orphanage Visit on 22nd February 2026 at Ramakrushna Balashram, Chandaka, Bhubaneswar. The programme witnessed the active participation of 105 NSS volunteers and aimed to create awareness about food wastage, food hygiene, and the importance of a balanced diet. The initiative sensitized children to responsible food consumption and emphasized the value of safely sharing surplus food with those in need.

Volunteers engaged the children through interactive games and creative activities, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. An impactful skit highlighted responsible food habits and the significance of donating safe leftover food. The children also got educated about essential nutrients and healthy living through simple explanations and relatable examples. The visit successfully promoted compassion, awareness, and social responsibility among both the children and volunteers, reflecting the true spirit of NSS – Not Me, But You. The initiative aligned with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting nutritional awareness and sustainable food practices.
The programme was successfully organized under the guidance of Dr. Minakhi Rout, Dr. Raghunath Dey, Dr. Ajaya Kumar Parida, and Dr. Subhashree Darshana, NSS Programme Officers of the School of Computer Engineering, with active support from the KIIT NSS Bureau. The event was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau, and Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer.
