KIIT NSS Bureau Organizes Van Mahotsav Plantation Drive
The KIIT NSS Bureau organized a Van Mahotsav Plantation Drive with great enthusiasm to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development. The programme was conducted as a part of the nationwide Van Mahotsav celebration, emphasizing the importance of afforestation and environmental responsibility.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS and KIMS has always envisioned education as a means to create socially responsible citizens who contribute towards the welfare of society and nature. His philosophy of sustainable development and community service continues to inspire thousands of NSS volunteers to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives. Driven by this vision, the KIIT NSS Bureau organized the plantation drive to encourage students to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute towards building a greener future.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU in the gracious presence of Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau and Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of NSS staff and a large number of NSS volunteers from different schools of KIIT.
The plantation drive commenced with the ceremonial planting by the dignitaries, symbolizing KIIT’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty highlighted the urgent need for environmental conservation in the face of climate change and increasing ecological challenges. He encouraged every volunteer to actively participate in tree plantation activities and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. He further emphasized that the plantation drive would not remain a one-day initiative and assured that many more trees would be planted across the campus throughout the year to strengthen KIIT’s green mission.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the dignitaries, NSS staff members and volunteers collectively planted a large number of trees across the campus. The volunteers actively participated in the plantation activity with great enthusiasm and pledged to take responsibility for nurturing the saplings.
The event served as an excellent platform to spread awareness about the importance of biodiversity, ecological balance and sustainable living among the student community. The Van Mahotsav Plantation Drive concluded on a highly positive note, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation and inspiring volunteers to become active contributors towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future. The programme reflected the true spirit of NSS by combining community service with environmental responsibility and encouraging young minds to protect nature for generations to come.
