Unique Christmas Celebration by NSS KIIT School of Electrical Engineering

NSS KIIT School of Electrical Engineering observed Christmas in a unique way – through an event of plogging to clean nature and also create awareness on plastics pollution. Plogging was started as an organized activity in Sweden around 2016 and spread to other countries in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution. It involves trekking, jogging and picking up litter.

During the event, the local volunteers wearing Santa caps gathered at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Bridge at Trisulia near Cuttack and walked to and fro six kilometers and collected plastic waste. The team returned with around 20+ kg of litter including 2 kg masks. All the activists worked together as a team with the NSS PO.

The aim of the initiative was to spread awareness on the event of Christmas and make the public places free of plastic. The event in NSS SEE was conducted under the guidance of the KIIT NSS Bureau Program Coordinator, Dr. Kajal Parashar, and Program officer NSS SEE, Prof. Snehalika.
