8th KIIT National Moot Court Competition Concludes at KIIT Law School
KIIT Law School (KLS) successfully conducted and hosted its annual event, the National Moot Court Competition-2021, from the 16th to 18th, 2021. The event witnessed participation from over 40 teams from the most reputed law schools and colleges across India. They were adjudicated by more than 60 legal professionals.
The Semifinals and Final Rounds were conducted on the 18th July, 2021, which was followed by the Valedictory and Awards Ceremony for the event. The final rounds witnessed intense grueling and discussion by members of the adjudicating panel consisting of Hon’ble Justice R.M. Borde, Former Judge, Bombay High Court; Shri Vikramjit Banerjee, Additional Solicitor General; Shri Surya Prasad Misra, Senior Advocate and Former Advocate General of Odisha; Professor (Dr.) V. Kesava Rao, Vice Chancellor, NUSRL, Ranchi; Shri Somasekhar Sundaresan, Counsel; Shri Zerick Dastur, Founder, Zerick Dastur Advocates and Solicitors; and Shri Mithun V. Thanks, Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas.
The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, Hon’ble Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka, as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkat Rao, former Vice-Chancellor, NLSIU Bangalore, as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar; Prof. (Dr.) Bhabani Prasad Panda, Director, and Chairman, KLSMCS, KIIT Law School, and all the participating team members, along with other guests and faculties and students of the School of Law.
Prof. (Dr.) Panda welcomed the guests and thanked Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, and the University leadership, for their support and motivation for successfully hosting the event. Hon’ble Justice Oka appreciated the pioneering initiatives of Prof. Samanta and reiterated the need for talented and skilled students to join the legal profession and serve the society. The final results of the Competition were declared at the ceremony. MS Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru, won the coveted First Prize, while Praveen Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai, took the first runners-up prize. Awards were also given for Second Runners Up (School of Law, Christ University, Bengaluru), Best Speaker – (Ms. R Deeksha, MS Ramaiah College of Law), and Best Memorial (Army Institute of Law, Mohali).
The Ceremony ended with words of appreciation from the participating team members, and vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Pradip Kumar Sarkar, Vice-Chairman, KLSMCS, LIIT Law School.
