KIIT Celebrates Hispanic Culture of “La Feria de Primavera” & Inaugurates Spanish Society ‘Kasa del Español’

Department of Language & Literature, KIIT School of Liberal Studies successfully organized “La Feria de Primavera”, a vibrant and culturally enriching celebration on 31st March, 2026 to showcase the beauty of the onset of spring season in Spanish and Hispanic traditions through music, dance, poetry, and interactive engagement.


The event commenced with an introductory note by Dr. Teeju Bhagat, Assistant Professor (Spanish), who warmly welcomed esteemed dignitaries, faculty members and students of KIIT University and students and teachers from KiiT International School.


The inaugural ceremony of the event was initiated with the welcome address by Mr. Sameer Kumar Das, Associate Dean, Department of Language & Literature, which was then followed by the official launch of the logo of KIIT Spanish Society Club, KASA DEL ESPAÑOL. The esteemed dignitaries, Ambassador Debraj Pradhan (Retd.), Senior Director General-International Relations and Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Panda, Dean, School of Mass Communication, Fashion Technology and  Film Studies shared their thoughts and experiences, emphasizing cultural exchange and global learning.


The event beautifully blended literary and artistic expressions such as Papel Picado, popular culture photo booth and a face painting booth. A poetic performance by Sagarika from KIIT School of Liberal Studies and students of KiiT International School (Shradha and Arjun) reflected the spirit of spring, drawing inspiration from literary icons such as Federico García Lorca and Pablo Neruda. A Spanish skit performance by KiiT International School students (Arjun, Ananya and Prarthana) further enhanced the linguistic and cultural immersion. Another brilliant performance came in the form of a fluent speech in Spanish language by Shivansi, a KiiT International school student.


A series of lively performances followed, showcasing immense talent and creativity. A group dance performed by KIIT University students (Manyata, Isshita, Prajnalika, Animesh, Binita, Amisha, Akshita, and Janessa) on songs such as Señorita, Taki Taki and Gabriella; one freestyle performance by Calvin from School of Mass communication on Baila pa’ mi and a special salsa duet performance by Calvin and Michelle on Sí Tú Quieres Divertir energized the audience with its rhythm and coordination.
