German Society ‘Kaleido’ Launched at “Namaste Deutschland” Event at KIIT for Promotion of German Language and Cultural Studies
The Department of Language & Literature, School of Liberal Studies, KIIT Deemed to be University successfully organized the cultural event “Namaste Deutschland” on 25 March 2026, during which the University’s German Society, “Kaleido,” was formally inaugurated. The event aimed to promote the richness, global relevance, and cultural depth of the German language while fostering Indo-German academic and cultural exchange.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a diverse group of attendees, including students from various Schools of KIIT such as Engineering, Biotechnology, Law, Liberal Studies, and Management, along with students from KIIT International School who are learning German or are interested in German culture and opportunities. The event created a vibrant intercultural platform, reflecting the growing interest in German language and studies within the KIIT community.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Sameer Kumar Das, Associate Dean, Department of Language & Literature. The inaugural session featured the official launch of “Kaleido,” the German Society of KIIT, envisioned as a dynamic cultural space extending learning beyond the classroom through interactive and immersive activities.





The session was graced by dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT; Ambassador Debraj Pradhan (Retd.), Director General – International Relations; Prof. (Dr.) Srinivas Patnaik, Dean, School of Biotechnology; Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, Dean, School of Electrical Engineering; Dr. Sarat Ch. Swain, Professor, School of Electrical Engineering; and Dr. Kshyana Prava Samal, Associate Dean, School of Civil Engineering, along with senior members of the KIIT administration. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of learning German in today’s global academic and professional landscape, emphasizing Indo-German collaboration, student mobility opportunities, and the value of intercultural competence.
An engaging interaction segment titled “Kaffee mit Kaleido” introduced the vision and future roadmap of the society, including activities such as film screenings, roleplays, poetry sessions, and cultural celebrations like Oktoberfest. The official unveiling of the Kaleido logo marked a significant milestone in the formal establishment of the society.
