World Menstrual Hygiene Day Observed at KINS

World Menstrual Hygiene day is celebrated every year which serves as a reminder about the challenges faced by women and girls in managing their periods. The Department of Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent under KIIT-DU, observed World Menstrual Hygiene Day this year with the theme ‘Together for a #Period Friendly World’.

The focus was to normalize menstruation and menstrual health management.T he programme was inaugurated by dignitaries with the lighting of the lamp which symbolizes divinity and harmony.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Niyati Das,

Principal, KINS, who created an enthusiasm among the audiences. The celebrations started withPanel discussion by students of Bsc Nsg. 6th Sem, who emphasized Concept of Menstrual health and hygiene, Importance of menstrual hygiene, social norms and myth on menstruation,governmental scheme for the promotion of menstrual hygiene and expressed the thoughts to make a period friendly world.

The Guest Lecturer was delivered by Dr. Bhuputra Panda, Director,KSPH, KIIT-DU. He highlighted the knowledge regarding multidimension of various research on Menstrual Health and Hygiene: Practices and Policies in Odisha.

This programme concluded under the valuable guidance of Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice Principal, KINS, KIIT-DU.The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Rojalin Dash, Asst.Prof, (O&G) KINS.
