KSMC Professor Presents Paper at International Conference
Dr. Sananda Mukherjee, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Mass Communication, presented a paper titled “Navigating the Complex World of Health-Related Advertising: Exploring the Ethical and Regulatory Challenges” at the International Association for Communication Research (IAMCR) conference held in Lyon from 9th to 13th July 2023. The event served as a global gathering for communication scholars and professionals from 90 countries and was attended by approximately 1200 delegates.
Dr. Mukherjee’s research shed light on the intricate ethical considerations that arise in the realm of health advertising, particularly concerning the potential for misinformation, misleading claims, and the influence of commercial interests. The session was chaired by Dr. Subba Rao M Gavaravarapu, Head of the Nutrition Information, Communication & Health Education (NICHE) Division at the ICMR – National Institute of Nutrition in Hyderabad, India. Alongside Dr. Mukherjee, co-presenters from South Korea, the United States, and China shared their insights and perspectives on health communication challenges.
