Menstruation is just another biological process; but has a great impact on our society as a whole. To break the shackles of such ideologies, Enactus KISS-KIIT, functioning under KSAC, conducted an informative and immersive interactive session on “Period-End of Sentence” under the social-media campaign #mypadmystory and Sustainable Development Goal 3 on 20th February 2022.

This event was organized with the joint effort of the other student societies of KIIT, namely Kamakshi, the Women’s Society, Kimaya, the Medical Society and Wordsmith, the Literary (Writing) Society. The Guest Speaker was Dr. Parul Sinha, MBBS, MS (Obstetrics and Gynecology), AIIMS Raebareli.

The talk covered a wide spectrum of topics, from menstrual products all the way to specific hygiene and care, catering to the needs of the menstruating section of the society. Dr. Parul Sinha articulated on how to maintain optimal health and hygiene, addressed and debunked the myths prevalent among the attendees regarding anti-depressants, painkillers, period suppression medication, as well as a few superstitious beliefs. The talk followed a Q&A session that gave an opportunity to the curious audience to ask various queries regarding lifestyle changes. Responding to a question, Dr. Sinha suggested adding 30 minutes of workout five days a week, lowering caffeine intake, and taking warm baths to gradually decrease the pain of abdominal cramps.

The students thanked Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Deputy Director, Student Services, KIIT and Dr. Kaish Q. Khan, Faculty for their guidance on organizing this webinar.
