KIMS Faculty delivers talk at “Organ Donation Awareness Camp” organized by Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar

“Organ and Whole Body Donation” represent the ultimate act of human generosity – a gift that transcends a single lifetime. Every Human body holds the potential to give a second gift of life or to advance medical education so that future doctors can save thousands more.

Every year thousands of lives are lost simply because of a shortage of donor organs. A single organ donor can save many lives and improve the quality of life. Despite advancements in medical science, misconceptions, fear and lack of awareness remain the biggest barriers preventing people from pledging their organs.

Dr. Prajna Paramita Samanta, Senior Professor & HOD, Department of Anatomy, KIMS, Bhubaneswar was invited to serve as Resource person for the “Organ Donation Awareness Camp” being organized by the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) a constituent of National council of Educational Research & Training, Bhubaneswar on 24th September 2026.

Dr. Prajna Paramita Samanta delivered an insightful   talk on “Organ and Whole Body Donation” raising awareness on the life-saving impact and noble significance of medical donation. The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging and asking several thoughtful questions to clarify processes, myths and procedures.

The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among the participants about the importance of organ donation, its role in saving lives and awareness about Whole Body donation after death for the purpose of education, anatomical dissection and medical research.
