In yet another step towards Skill Development of Medicos, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) installed a virtual dissection table for departments like Anatomy, Surgery, Orthopedic, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Anesthesiology.
Anatomy is the branch of science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals and other living organisms, especially as revealed by dissection and separation of parts. It’s an essential component in medical education. The virtual dissection table will add value to the teaching-learning process. The learning opportunities, engagement, peer to peer learning, assessments and quizzing, distance mode of teaching will be possible through the virtual dissection table.
Curriculum integration with clinical departments will help the student in learning the future clinical and practical applications during the first year of MBBS itself. Surgical planning will help the surgeons for virtual operation with patient’s CT scan any DICOM data and plan the surgical plains of trauma, cancers and any rare pathologies before proceeding for actual surgery.
Installation of the virtual dissection tables is a part of the state-of-the-art Simulation and Skill Lab proposed by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder KIIT, KISS & KIMS. It will go a long way in enhancing the skill development and quality education at KIMS.
