IRO KIIT Organizes Heritage Walk

for African Students

With an intention to connect international students from Africa with the rich socio-cultural heritage of Cuttack, the Millennium City, the KIIT International Relations Office organized a day-long

Heritage Walk on March 14, 2026.

Led by the officials of IRO, the curated walk, comprising 70 international students, made the participants aware of 1,000 years of Cuttack’s existence, showcasing its unique blend of maritime glory through Bali Yatra, architecture of power, namely Barabati Fort, local culture, roadside iconic delicacies such as dahibara aloodum, silver artistry, world-famous Durga Puja, and peaceful

community living, thus making the city one of its own kind.

The enthusiasm of the students was palpable, as the maritime traditions of Kalinga drew parallels with those of the Swahili Coast, while also enhancing their knowledge about the history of Odisha and fostering a sense of mutual respect and belonging between the two regions.

The students were then taken to the nearby Coconut Island Resort for refreshment and recreational activities.
