21st International Conference on Distributed Computing and Intelligent Technology (ICDCIT) held at KIIT
The 21st International Conference on Distributed Computing and Intelligent Technology (ICDCIT) was successfully hosted by KIIT Deemed to Be University from January 8 to 11, 2025. This prestigious event brought together leading researchers, scholars and industry professionals from across the globe.
Renowned experts, including Prof. Rajkumar Buyya (University of Melbourne, Australia); Prof. Michel Raynal (University of Rennes, France); Prof. Jean-Marie Gorce (INSA-Lyon, France); Prof. G. Narahari Sastry (IIT Hyderabad, India); Dr. Debasish Das (Amazon, India); Prof. Arul Murugan N (IIIT Delhi, India); and Prof. Giuseppe F. Italiano (LUISS University, Rome, Italy), delivered keynote talks underscoring the conference’s global stature.
The event was honoured by the esteemed presence of Program Chairs Prof. Krishnendu Mukhopadhyay (ISI Kolkata); Dr. Bapi Chatterjee (IIIT Delhi); General Chairs Prof. Partha Sarathi Mandal (IIT Guwahati); and Stephane Devismes (University of Picardie Jules Verne, France).
ICDCIT 2025 maintained its reputation for academic rigor, receiving 96 submissions with acceptance rates of 13% for the Intelligent Technology track and 33% for the Distributed Computing track. The proceedings have been published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science series, highlighting the scholarly contributions.
The conference featured several satellite events, including the 15th Industry Symposium, delved into the profound theme, “Societal Implications of Generative AI: Upbringing of Future Talents”. Prominent keynote speakers included: Mr. Satish Pandey, Chief Customer Officer, Siemens Limited; Dr. Debabrata Nayak, Director of Cyber Security, PwC; and Mr. Umar Ali Shaikh, CEO, ATOS. A dynamic panel discussion with six industry leaders, including Mr. Asit Mishra (CSGI); Mr. Sibabrata Mohanty (TCS); Mr. Ram Prasad Patnaik (LTIMindtree); Mr. Satish Pradhan (Cognizant); Mr. Haraprasad Das (Tech Mahindra) and Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh (Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU)explored emerging trends, best practices and the future trajectory of Generative AI. The Industry Symposium was attended by 300 students and the event was co-chaired by Prof. Abhishek Ray and Dr. Krishna Chakravarty.
The 15th Student Research Symposium (SRS) received submissions from Dubai, Malaysia, and various Indian states such as Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Odisha. After a double-blind peer-review process, 16 exceptional papers were selected, reflecting a competitive acceptance rate of 34%. The accepted works will be published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, a well-regarded academic publisher. The event was jointly chaired by Dr. Anjan Bandyopadhyay and Dr. Manjusha Pandey, highlighting its academic significance.
The 14th Project Innovation Contest 2025 received an overwhelming response, with 170 project submissions from across the country, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and more. Following a rigorous double-blind review process, 34 projects were selected. A total of 77 students from various universities and NIT showcased their projects. The project reports have been compiled into a book with an ISBN. The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KIMS & KISS, followed by an inauguration by Dr. Debi Prasad Dogra, HoD CSE Department, IIT Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Prof. Saranjit Singh (Vice Chancellor, KIIT); and Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty (Registrar, KIIT). The event was co-chaired by Dr. Satya Ranjan Dash, Mr. Lalit Kumar Vashishtha and Dr. Pratyusa Mukherjee.
The 4th PhD Research Symposium (PRS) 2025 provided a platform for Ph.D. scholars to present their research, with 26 submissions from four countries: Poland, the USA, Malaysia, and India. Represented institutions included prestigious names such as IIT Kharagpur, ISM Dhanbad, NIT Raipur, NIT Karnataka, IIIT Guwahati, and KIIT University. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Chittaranjan Pradhan and Dr. Himansu Das.
The 4th Workshop on Securing Decentralized Applications was also conducted, with Dr. Shashidhar R from Samsung R&D, India, as the keynote speaker, Co-chaired by Dr. Sushruta Mishra, Dr. Abhaya Kumar Sahoo, and Mr. Kunal Anand. The workshop, attended by 202 registered students, addressed the pressing need for robust security in blockchain-based decentralized applications.
The 2nd Hackathon 2025, centered on the transformative theme of “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Sustainable Healthcare”, concluded with remarkable success. Spanning four days, the event brought together 95 participants from 36 teams representing Odisha, Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. This diverse cohort of students, researchers, and industry professionals united to address critical challenges in healthcare through cutting-edge AI innovations. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Siddharth Swarup Routaray, Dr. Rajat Kumar Behera, Dr. Saurabh Jha and Dr. Bhaswati Sahoo.
The conference was managed by Dr. Bindu Agarwalla, with the support of organizing committee members under the guidance of Prof. Samaresh Mishra (Director Student Affairs, KIIT-DU); Mr. D.N. Dwivedy (Vice President, IT & Operations) and School of Computer Engineering. The Steering Committee included eminent members such as Sathya Peri (IIT Hyderabad); Anisur Rahaman Molla (ISI Kolkata); and Gokarna P. Sharma (Kent State University).
ICDCIT 2025 reaffirmed KIIT University’s dedication to fostering cutting-edge research and global collaboration in distributed computing and intelligent technologies.
