Online Lecture Series on ‘The Quantum World’ at KIIT School of Applied Sciences

An online lecture series on “The Quantum World: Principles and Consequences” was conducted by Department of Physics, School of Applied Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be University in association with  Dept. of Applied Physics and Ballistic, Fakir Mohan University, Fakir Mohan Autonomous College and Bhadrak Autonomous Colleges from 9th to 20th September 2021. The session was co-convened by Dr. Dibyaranjan Rout, Coordinator Physics and supported by  Dr. Bidhubhusan Sahu, Dr. Gopal Pradhan, Dr. Jagnyaseni Tripathy, Dr. Sutanu Mangal, Dr. Swetapadma Praharaj and Dr. Priyadarshini Parida.

The objective of this cluster workshop was to provide exposure to the students to the topic from varied perspectives, relevance of Quantum Phenomena in device-design, and usefulness beyond the classroom learning.

The inaugural session on the 9th September 2021 was graced by Prof. Santosh Tripathy, Vice Chancellor, FM University; Prof. Puspalata Pattojoshi, Dean, KIIT School of Applied Sciences;  Prof. Munesh C. Adhikari, Chairman, PG Council, FM University; Dr. Sangeeta Sahoo, Principal, FM College; Dr. Umakanta Samal, Principal, Bhadrak College; and Dr. Jajati K Nayak, Senior Scientist. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata.

The speaker of the series, Prof. P. K. Mahanty of IISER Kolkata delivered an intriguing lecture on “ Why Quantum Mechanics” on the first day. The session was attended by 100 post graduate student participants from the four participating organizations and faculty members.
