The Research and Development Cell at KIIT conducted “Chai pe Charcha,” an interactive session with full-time Ph.D. research scholars. This initiative facilitated a strong connection between the R&D leadership and the research scholars. Some of the Ph.D. scholars shared their research journeys and experiences during the session.

Speaking to the research scholars, Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Chandra Satapathy, Director of Doctoral Research & Publications emphasized the motive of the ‘Chai Pe Charcha’, an innovative initiative by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS & KIMS. Prof. Satapathy, opened the forum by sharing his personal Ph.D. journey, motivating all Ph.D. scholars to overcome stress and pursue their career ambitions. This forum primarily serves as a platform for informal interaction and fostering camaraderie among peer members. Additionally, he elaborated on the existing publication support system and fellowship support system available for eligible Ph.D. scholars. He invited everyone to unite in this noble endeavour for personal growth and the development of a sustainable R&D ecosystem at KIIT.

Prof. Gopal C. Kundu, Director (R&D) remarked that the three research clusters of the university, despite coming from different backgrounds and having varied natures, enhanced the prospects of interdisciplinary research. A scholar’s career and societal prospects are greatly influenced by the quality of their research, along with various metrics such as publication citations, impact factors, and the h-index, he emphasized. He also highlighted the importance of conducting research while maintaining good ethical practices in data presentation, quality, and innovation. The KIIT R&D team has improved the curriculum with the valuable support of the Founder and Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, said Prof.  Kundu.

Furthermore, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Director (R&D), SOT, highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary research in acquiring and disseminating knowledge across various disciplines.

The session also emphasized KIIT’s continued efforts to cultivate an eco-research system environment and promote interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation through capacity building. The talk provided an exciting environment for research academics to network with peers, discuss creative ideas, and explore collaboration potential for future academic pursuits.  Prof. (Dr.) Purna Chandra Mishra, Dean, IPR and Prof. (Dr.) Rojalin Sahu, Associate Dean, Central Research Facility were also present.
