Shibangini Beura
Title of the Award: Senior Research Fellowship to pursue PhD
Award Received: Name of the agency Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), Govt. of India, Place Delhi, India
Sanctioned Amount of Project or Award: Rs. 5.07 Lakhs/yr. Duration- 3yr.
About the Award: Epigenetic regulation through protein post-translational modifications and small RNA interference are emerging as key regulators in prokaryotes for survival in different physiological conditions. Protein lysine acetylation is known to play critical role in gene expression both in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. In prokaryotes acetyl-phosphate mediated non-enzymatic acetylation is predominant over enzymatic acetylation, however deacetylation is an enzymatic reaction primarily catalyzed by a NAD–dependent deacetylase CobB.
Shibangini will study the biochemical and functional role of Salmonella enterica CobB. She will use biochemical and biophysical measurements and enzyme assays for in vitro characterizations of CobB. Gene knockouts in Salmonella and overexpression studies coupled with Immuno-precipitation- Mass spectrometry (IP-MS) will help in understanding role of CobB on Salmonella lifecycle and pathogenesis.

Title: Thermal Screening door with face recognition and tracking system.
Name of the Student: Ms. Raj Laxmi
Name of the Supervisor: Dr. Pampa Sinha and Dr. Chitralekha Jena
Abstract: As the population of our country is large, it leaves few people unchecked in Covid 19 Pandemic and if in some way they are the virus carriers then that can further infect other people. The main objective of the project is to develop a Thermal screening door with sensors to detect the body temperature which will help mankind to fight against Covid 19 Pandemic.
