NSS Unit of KSFH Conducts a Seven Day Awareness Camp at Barimund Village, Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar

The NSS Winter Special Camp held by the NSS unit of KSFH, KIIT embarked on a journey of social service and community engagement. The NSS unit of KSFH conducted a seven day awareness camp which was held from 20 December 2023 to 26 December 2023 at Barimund village, Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar. The whole event was going smoothly under the supervision of the NSS Programme Officer of KSFH,  Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das.

The first day commenced with the inaugural ceremony and flag hoisting done by the Director of KSFH, Dr. Jayanta Kumar Parida. It marked the presence of the Program Officer of NSS KIIT, Dr. Kajal Parashar ; the Sarpanch of Barimund village, Mrs Supriya Mallick and other dignitaries. After the formal session, a plantation drive took place in order to make the villagers aware of the motive of ‘Green Environment’ .

On the second day, the NSS team initiated a Tobacco Awareness Programme and to reach a wider audience, the NSS team members visited the entire village of Barimund, raising various slogans to spread awareness among the villagers, regarding the harmful effects of tobacco. The NSS team organized a fire safety awareness on the third day to make the villagers aware about the fire safety management and what should be their approach in those adverse situations. The fire safety awareness program was done successfully by the officers of the Odisha Fire Service Department, Patia, Bhubaneswar.

The NSS team had organized a Dental checkup camp led by Kalinga Institute of Dental Science (KIDS). The dental camp witnessed the active participation from the villagers, availing themselves of the free dental checkup services. A cleanliness drive took place at the Baliyatra ground, Bhubaneswar on the fifth day where NSS volunteers took an initiative to clean the field and motivated the locals to have a clean environment around them.

An academic session was held on the same day which marked the presence of the Youth Officer, Mr. Ajit Kushwaha; the social media expert, Mr. Nikhil Panigrahi and the Program Officer of KSFH NSS Unit, Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das. Embarking on day six of the special winter camp, the NSS family of KSFH launched two crucial awareness programs focusing on menstrual hygiene, pad distribution and a survey on election in collaboration with the Sarpanch.

Later an energetic Nukkad Natak unfolded, portraying a story of a young girl affected by dengue and illustrating the adverse consequences of superstitious beliefs. The performance resonated with the audience, evident in the filled streets applauding the impactful messages. On the last day of the NSS camp, the Director of KSFH, the Sarpanch, the Program Officer of the NSS unit of KSFH and the Regional Director of NSS, Mrs. Sarita Patel. Mrs. Patel discussed the importance of hard work, specifically focusing on the active participation of girls in every event. Prize distribution ceremony, cultural program held by our NSS volunteers and the bonfire remarked the end of seven days of NSS winter special camp. The team effort was evident, making the NSS camp a commendable and enduring effort.
