KSPH Organizes Webinar on Antimicrobial Resistance

The School of Public Health, KIIT Deemed to be University conducted a webinar on “Spread of Awareness to Stop Antimicrobial Resistance” on 23rd November 2021 on the occasion of the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (18-24 November 2021). The key resource persons for the webinar were Professor (Dr.) Sudhir Kumar Satpathy, Director, KSPH, Associate Professors Dr. Manas Ranjan Behera and Dr. Himanshu Sekhar Pradhan.

The webinar was started with welcoming the participants and speakers by Mr. Jyoti Prakash, Research Associate, PREVENT|IT project. The keynote address on World Antimicrobial Awareness Week was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Kumar Satpathy. He elaborated the insights of Antimicrobial resistance, its consequences and perspectives on World Antimicrobial Awareness Week. Associate Professor Manas Ranajn Behera spoke on the burden of AMR and the factors responsible for AMR. Associate Professor Himanshu Sekhar Pradhan presented the global and national action plan on AMR with focus on awareness creation in combating AMR. The talks were followed by a question and answer session.

Around 150 participants consisting of students, alumni, PhD Scholars and faculty members from the KSPH, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences and PREVENT IT consortium participated in the webinar. The webinar was concluded with a pledge by the participants and the speakers for their commitment towards combating AMR. During this World Antimicrobial Awareness week, KSPH also shared the important message and activities related to Antimicrobial resistance through its social media platform.
