Senior Vice President, Project Concern International(PCI), USA visits KIIT School of Public Health

Ms Janine Schooley, Senior Vice President, Project Concern International (PCI), USA visited School of Public Health, KIIT Deemed to be University(DU) on 27th August, 2019. In this regard, a meeting was organised which was chaired by Prof. Sudarshan Nanda, Prof. Emeritus & Research Chair, KIIT DU with participation of faculty and students of School of Public Health at Management Room, KIMS. 

During the meeting, the Master of Public Health (MPH) students of School of Public Health were felicitated by PCI for their commendable job in Mass Drug Administration (MDA) Program towards elimination of Lymphatic filariasis in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation area from 08 – 10 August 2019. The MDA was implemented by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Directorate of Public Health, Govt. of Odisha with facilitation of PCI.

Students were distributed participation certificate in MDA programme issued jointly by NVBDCP, Directorate of Public Health and PCI. The students also shared their experience of working in MDA programme. This was followed by the discussion of the faculty members with the PCI team to explore possible areas of future collaboration.

In his deliberation, Prof. Nanda inspired students to do excellence in their respective areas of study. He thanked Ms. Schooley and PCI team for visiting and partnering with the School of Public Health. He also mentioned possible areas for future collaboration with PCI.

Ms Janine Schooley appreciated students for their contribution in elimination initiatives  of Lymphatic filariasis in Odisha. She advised students to continue such population health activities towards greater  benefits of the society.

Ms. Rajshree Das, Director – Programs & Innovations and Mr. Sarat Patra, State Programme Manager, PCI accompanied MsJanine Schooley. They all appreciated students’ work in MDA towards elimination of Lymphatic filariasis in Odisha.
