R&D and IQAC Host Research Excellence Workshop-2025

The workshop on Research Excellence 2025, themed “Tools, Techniques, Ethics and Best Practices,” was successfully held at KIIT-DU on June 18, 2025. The one-day event featured multiple sessions delivered by renowned academicians and speakers from publishing houses, highlighting the use of advanced digital tools and research methods, upholding research integrity, and promoting collaboration to achieve high-impact publications and sustainable innovations.

Prof. Suresh Chandra Satapathy, Director, Doctoral Research and Publication at KIIT-DU, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of fostering interdisciplinary research, adopting best practices for research scholars, and enabling access to a unified digital platform for all research-related documents. He further encouraged scholars to collaborate, connect with peer researchers, and actively engage in knowledge-sharing to foster innovation and enhance research quality.

Prof. Gopal C. Kundu, Director, Research and Development, highlighted that KIIT is actively engaged in high-end, state-of-the-art inter and multidisciplinary research. Many faculty members of KIIT have received funding from ANRF-SERB, DST, DBT, ICMR, ICSSR, as well as from industry and international agencies. KIIT also provides intramural funding to early-career faculty and offers the KIIT-Fellowship to selected Ph.D. students based on academic merit. The university publishes a large number of high-quality, peer-reviewed papers in international journals, and its h-index and citation scores are significantly high. In addition to publications, KIIT has filed and been granted numerous national and international patents.

In his address as the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Shivraj Kanungo, Vice Dean for Graduate Programs, Program Director of the MS in Interdisciplinary Business Studies, and Associate Professor of Decision Sciences at the GW School of Business, Washington, D.C. emphasized the importance of system dynamics modeling and the integration of engineering principles into management education.

He later delivered presentations on various aspects of research methodology, with particular emphasis on information systems and knowledge management.

In another sessionDr. Bhavik Sawhney, Senior Editor at Taylor and Francis, presented on the topic “Beyond the Manuscript: Strategies in Open Science, AI-Driven Publishing, and Research Ethics.” In the final session, Ms. Sangeeta Mennon, Regional Publishing Manager at Emerald Publishing, spoke on the topic “Navigating the Scholarly Publishing Landscape: Insights for Researchers.”

Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar SahooDirector, R&D (SOT), in his vote of thanks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS & KIMS; Vice Chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh; and Registrar Prof. J. R. Mohanty for their valuable guidance and support. He also thanked all the researchers, scholars, and students for their active participation in the workshop.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Amlana Panda, Assistant Registrar (R&D), along with a few research scholars. There was participation from more than 300 Ph.D. scholars from KIIT-DU.
