KIMS Organises Auto-Antibody Workshop
The Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, KIMS organised an academic 3-day auto-antibody workshop from 2nd to 4th October 2026 in association with laboratory services.
The workshop was convened by Dr. Ramnath Misra, Emeritus Professor, Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, KIMS. It was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Prasanta Padhan, Professor & Head, Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology.
The workshop featured lectures by faculties including (Prof) Dr. Ramnath Misra, Dr. Saurav Patra, Dr. Rajalaxmi Sarangi, Dr. Bandita Panda, Dr. Pradeepta Sekhar Patro, Dr. Nupur Pradhan, Dr. Krushna Kumari Sahoo, Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Dr. Debashis Maikap and Dr. Bishakha Swain.
The topics discussed were various serological investigations in Immunology and Rheumatology. These included ANA Immunofluorescence, Flow cytometry, ANCA, Nephelometry, ELISA, Lupus anticoagulant, Line immunoassay, and Polymerase chain reaction. Additionally, nail fold capillaroscopy and polarising microscopy were also discussed.
The lectures were followed by demonstration and hands-on experience in the lab work and nail fold capillaroscopy. The lab personnel actively participated in the demonstration in the workshop. The presence and participation of Mr. Debadatta Sahoo, Mr. Nishikanta Thatoi, Mr. Saroj Kumar Mishra, Mr. Umakanta Panda, Mr. Dipti Ranjan Bhuiyan, Mrs. Mamata Mohapatra, Ms. Ayesha Das, Mr. Bhaskar Chandra Swain, Mr. Sangram Kesari Guru and Mr. Raghunath Mohapatra made this workshop successful.
A total of 26 students participated in the workshop, 22 of whom were DM/DrNB students or fellows in Clinical Immunology and rheumatology. 13 students belonged to other institutes and 9 DM students, 1 PhD scholar and a project assistant belonged to KIMS. 2 MBBS students from KIMS also participated in the workshop.
The programme reinforced the importance of laboratory work in rheumatology and successfully bridged the clinical and laboratory aspects of the specialty
