EUS-Spy Glass Hybrid Workshop at KIMS and PBMH

The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology under the able guidance of Prof. Manoj Kumar Sahu (Director KCC/KSS and Head of the Department Gastroenterology and Hepatology, KIMS and PBMH) organized an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and spy glass workshop on 1st and 2nd of March 2025. The purpose of this workshop was to teach young and dynamic gastroenterologists of various parts of our country regarding basics of EUS and spyglass cholangioscopy.

Prof. Praveer Rai (Head of the department, SGPGIMS, Lucknow) was the chief guest and demonstrator of this live workshop. Ten gastroenterologists from various parts of India participated in this workshop.

The workshop started with a brief introduction to the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology by Prof. Preetam Nath. The workshop was officially inaugurated by Prof. Subrata Kumar Acharya (Pro-Chancellor, KIIT DU); Prof. Manas Behera (Medical Superintendent); Prof. R.C. Das (Principal, KIMS); Dr. R. N. Samanta (Senior Advisor to Founder, KIMS); Prof. Manoj Kumar Sahu  and Prof. Praveer Rai. Dr. Dibyalochan Praharaj provided a brief outline of the workshop. It was followed by the departmental visit by Prof. Praveer Rai.

After the departmental visit, Prof. Rai provided a brief introduction regarding basics of EUS and Spyglass cholangioscopy following which the live demonstration was initiated. In the evening, Prof Rai delivered a masterful talk on various recent advances in EUS and cholangioscopy.

Prof. Rai also responded to all queries raised by the audience and had a brief interaction with D.M. residents.  It was followed by felicitation of all participants and Prof. Rai by Prof. Manoj Kumar Sahu and Dr. Dibya Lochan Praharaj. Dr. Saroj Kanta Sahoo (Assistant Professor, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology) delivered the vote of thanks to all stakeholders.
