The NSS Unit of Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), KIIT Deemed to be University, successfully organized an Orientation Programme for the newly inducted NSS volunteers on 12th April 2025.
The programme was aimed at fostering awareness about the objectives, principles, and activities of the National Service Scheme (NSS) among the students and encouraging them to actively participate in community service.
A Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. Jayashree Pradhan, NSS Programme Officer, KINS, setting the tone for the day. The event witnessed a series of insightful and motivating speeches by esteemed dignitaries:
Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau, addressed the structural and operational aspects of the NSS Bureau. He may have shared achievements of KIIT’s NSS units and set goals for the new batch, encouraging them to engage in impactful service.
Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer, KIIT-DU, Expected to outline the objectives of NSS at KIIT and how it connects with national service initiatives. He may have presented a roadmap for new volunteers and emphasized values like unity, discipline, and leadership.
Dr. Kajal Parashar, Deputy Director, Community Engagement Cell, spoke on educational outreach and community engagement. Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice Principal, KINS, reflected on how nursing students can play a pivotal role in community health through NSS. She urged students to bridge academic learning with field work. Dr. Niyati Das, Principal, KINS, addressed the vision and mission of KINS with respect to NSS.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Mr. Ajit Kumar Kushwaha, NSS Youth Officer, Regional Directorate, Bhubaneswar. He highlighted the national outlook of NSS and explained how students from Odisha contribute to national service goals.
A formal Oath-Taking Ceremony was conducted to induct the new volunteers into the NSS, followed by a presentation show casing the Journey of KINS NSS Unit. This segment included the introduction of the new NSS team and the official launch of the NSST-shirt.
A felicitation ceremony was held to honor volunteers who had represented the institution at the National Integration Camp (NIC), recognizing their dedication and contribution.
The programme came to an end with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Debasis Pradhan, NSS Programme Officer, KINS. The closing segment included Cultural Performances and Experience Sharing by senior volunteers, fostering enthusiasm among the new members. The event concluded with the National Anthem marking a respectful and patriotic end to the programme.
The NSS Orientation Programme was a grand success, effectively instilling in the volunteers a sense of responsibility, service, and social awareness.
