KSRM Organizes Alumni Talk

An Alumni talk was organized by KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM) for the students of MBA (RM) and MBA (ABM) on 24th March 2021. The speaker Mr. Rohit Maskara, MBA (RM) batch of 2009-11, in his talk, gave an overview of plastic waste management in the country. He shared about the circular economy approaches in plastic waste management. Mr. Rohit highlighted the challenges in waste management and the key issues in the waste value chain and waste pickers. He also shared the UNDP model of plastic waste management and explained how they are implementing it in collaboration with the various stakeholders.

Mr. Rohit advised the present batches to utilize their time in reading. They should go beyond subjects, mastering certain domain areas especially, in the present pandemic scenario. He also asked the students to work on their areas of weakness, to be in touch with alumni and faculty members. He suggested the students work at the grassroots and gain experience in the beginning of one’s career.

Mr. Rohit has around 10 years of experience in various domains like waste management, enterprise development and financial inclusion. He is currently working as a Project Officer for Plastic Waste Recycling Programme at UNDP and is based out of Delhi. He had earlier worked in HDFC Ergo General Insurance, Centre for Environment Education, SREI Sahaj e Village Limited and Emami Ltd. Mr. Rohit has also done courses on Municipal Solid Waste Management in Developing Countries and Regional and Rural Development Planning from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok.
