KIIT NSS Bureau Participates in “NashaMukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan”
The KIIT NSS Bureau actively participated in the “NashaMukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan”, a nationwide campaign organized to inspire youth to build a drug-free and developed India. The programme was conducted in coordination with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the technical team of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry).
The programme featured a virtual address by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,who highlighted the devastating impact of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society. He emphasized that addiction not only destroys the lives and aspirations of young people but also weakens families and hinders the nation’s progress. The Prime Minister called upon the youth to become ambassadors of a NashaMukt Bharat and actively contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.
As part of the programme, the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, presented an impactful online street play (NukkadNatak) depicting the harmful effects of drug addiction. The performance highlighted the symptoms and consequences of substance abuse while emphasizing the importance of awareness campaigns, family support, community participation, de-addiction centres, counselling, and rehabilitation facilities in overcoming addiction.

Around 250 NSS volunteers from various KIIT school units enthusiastically participated in the programme. Following the Prime Minister’s address, all participants solemnly took the “NashaMukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat” pledge, reaffirming their commitment to abstain from intoxicating substances, spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, and promote a healthy, empowered, and drug-free society.
The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT Deemed to be University; Dr. Srinivasa Pattnaik, Dean, School of Biotechnology; Dr. Visakha Raina, Associate Dean, School of Biotechnology; Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau; Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer; and the Program officers of KIIT NSS Bureau Dr. Smita Rani Panda, Dr. P. K. Patra, Dr. Prachi Vijayeeta and Dr. Bidhubhusan Dash, along with faculty members and NSS volunteers.
The event concluded with a strong message that “a drug-free youth is the foundation of a developed nation”. It served as an excellent platform to raise awareness about substance abuse, encourage responsible citizenship, and motivate students to become active contributors to the vision of “NashaMukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat.”
