The NSS Unit of the School of Computer Engineering, KIIT-DU organized an Old Age Home Visit on 28th February 2026 at Khushiyon ka Ghar, Sai Paradise, Bhubaneswar, as part of its commitment to community service and social responsibility.

With the active participation of 35 NSS volunteers, the programme aimed to promote awareness about clean water, sanitation, and low-energy practices, while fostering meaningful interactions with the elderly residents. Volunteers spent quality time with the elders through friendly conversations, a nostalgic jamming session, and playing games such as Ludo and UNO, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. A lighthearted mono-act performance further added to the cheerful environment.

As a gesture of love and respect, volunteers presented handcrafted origami flowers and personalized notes to the residents. The visit concluded with volunteers respectfully applying gulal to the elders’ feet ahead of the upcoming Holi festival, symbolizing affection, gratitude, and reverence. The initiative was also inspired by the Art of Giving philosophy of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS & KIMS encouraging compassion and service among the youth. This initiative aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) by promoting awareness about health, hygiene, and sustainable living practices.

The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Dr. Raghunath Dey, Dr. Subhashree Darshana, Dr. Ajaya Kumar Parida, and Dr. Minakhi Rout, NSS Programme Officers of the School of Computer Engineering, with support from the KIIT NSS Bureau. The programme was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, NSS Programme Coordinator, and Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer, whose constant encouragement ensured its smooth and successful execution.
