Founder’s Cup Organized by Kronicle Society, KSAC

Kronicle, the Debating Society of KIIT functioning at KSAC, hosted one of its annual debating competitions, The Founder’s Cup, on 26th February 2023. It was inaugurated by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, on whose legacy the competition is named after. In his inaugural speech, he motivated students and emphasized the importance of developing critical thinking abilities and co-curricular activities.

This extremely engaging event with excellent debating topics was conducted at KSAC and attracted more than 100+ participants. Held in three rounds, there was a display of spectacular debating in the form of exciting extempore, hardcore face offs and the final presidential debate. The competition was judged by a panel of nine judges. The final round was judged by two judges who evaluated each individual’s case based on its clarity, logic, and persuasiveness.

Each side made compelling and thoroughly researched arguments, making for a fiercely competitive environment. In the end, the winning participant was Omm Gupta from the KIIT School of Language and Literature. The First Runner’s up was Anshuman Bhagati from the KIIT School of Humanities, and the Second Runner’s up position was bagged by Snehagni Roy from the KIIT School of Biotechnology. The award was presented by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Shyam Sunndar Behura, Dy. Director, SS and Prof. Sushant Tripathy. The event provided students an excellent chance to hone their public speaking and critical thinking abilities.
