Entrepreneurship Development Training Program in KISS Deemed to be University
A 12-day Entrepreneurship Development Training Program was organized from 18th May to 2nd June 2022 by the District Industries Centre, Bhubaneswar at KISS Deemed to be University. The training program aimed to hone skills of young tribal entrepreneurs and ensure sustainable tribal livelihood, and was sponsored by Directorate of Industries, Odisha, supported by KISS-DU and facilitated by ‘Sradhanjali’.
The program was inaugurated in the presence of Er. Gagan Bihari Nayak, General Manager, DIC, Bhubaneswar; Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU; Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar; Mr. Sampad Kumar Nayak, Assistant Manager, DIC, Bhubaneswar; Mr. S.C. Badu, IPO, DIC, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Rajesh Sahoo, Director, ‘Sradhanjali’ and faculty members of the School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Er. Gagan Bihari Nayak advised the students to go for ODIP Schemes (One District One Product Scheme) or Non ODIP Schemes under the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprise Scheme / Prime Minister Employment Generation Program. He suggested them to make online applications vide PMFME Portal of the state government and to undertake this 12-day Entrepreneurship Development Program conducted by the Government of Odisha for development of the prescribed entrepreneurship skill.
The objective of KISS-DU is to produce young tribal entrepreneurs for the cause of socio-economic development of the tribal communities of rural Odisha, said Professor Deepak Kumar Behera. Odisha is rich in tribal resources and programs like this will play a seminal role in creating platforms and opportunities, he stated, while hoping that the innovative mindset of the students will enable them to generate employment instead of seeking jobs only. He promised to extend all support to the concerned authorities of the State and Central Government in this regard.

In his welcome address, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray stated that there are many creative students in KISS-DU, who are poised to become entrepreneurs in their life. They often seek guidance to understand the roadmap, to fight the hurdles in setting up MSMEs and try to become entrepreneurs to ensure sustainable livelihood, instead of seeking jobs, he added.
Professionals from various backgrounds delivered lectures and interacted with the participants at the training program. They addressed the 30 participants and apprised them of everything necessary to start an MSME Unit and assured them to help in every aspect in the matter of their start-ups in future.
