‘Kamakshi’ & ‘HeForShe’, the women’s Society under KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC), conducted a Talk show on the eve of International Day of the Girl Child, virtually. Delivering the talk, Mr. Shyam Sundar Tripathy, District Program Manager, National Health Mission, Ganjam enlightened everyone with his views on the Indian social situation around girls and what every one of us can do to help the cause. “It would be better if we make our families aware of girls’ safety and rights first. Family needs to broaden their minds and understand the current situation”, he said. He thanked Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for making KSAC and student societies work for the society.

The event also showcased an appropriately enacted video on International Girl Child’s Day in which ‘Kamakshi’ & ‘HeForShe’ volunteers recited a poem about the challenges faced by young girls and how we as a society can help. It was followed up by an interactive Q&A session with the guest speaker. Swati Das, Shubhadita Roy and Rodoshie Ghosh, student members of the society were part of the Q&A session. Mr. Tripathy rightfully presented some examples and ways that can be initiated to create a liberated mentality. Students from different schools were present at the event and interacted with the guests.

The event was mentored by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Deputy Director, Student Services and Asst. Prof. Parthiba Chakraborty, Faculty-Coordinator of ‘Kamakshi’ & ‘HeForShe’. It was organized by the Society Coordinator Simran S. Bhuyan and Asst. Coordinators, Alok Mishra and Anvesha Kanodia. The talk show was moderated by Anwesha Mishra.
