Alumni Talk on “Life After MBBS-Role of The Institute” held at KIMS

The Alumni Committee of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences with the FIC as Dr. Krishna Mishra from the Department of Community Medicine supported by Dr. Swayanka Samantray from the Department of Psychiatry conducted an Alumni Talk on 23rd November 2024 which is the first of its kind in KIMS.

The Alumni Talk was held in Lecture Theatre for MBBS students on the topic, Life After MBBs-Role of The Institute; the speaker being an undergraduate and postgraduate student of this institute Dr. Ansuman Kar. He is currently working as a Senior Resident in Dept. of Community Medicine, Shri Jagannath Medical College, Puri.

The programme was started with an opening address by the FIC and Dr. Mishra welcomed all the dignitaries. This programme was chaired by AVM Prof. Dr. R.C. DAS, Dean & Principal, KIMS; Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar, Professor & HOD, Community Medicine; and Prof. (Dr.) Basanta Kumar Behera, Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, KIMS.

Dr. Anshuman Kar began by sharing his personal journey, highlighting the challenges he faced after completing his MBBS. He emphasized the significance of an institute’s role in shaping the careers of its students. Dr. Kar stressed that an institute’s responsibility extends beyond providing academic knowledge; it should also foster skills, values, and networking opportunities essential for success in the medical profession.

Throughout the talk, Dr. Kar shared inspiring anecdotes, real-life examples, and valuable insights, which kept the audience engaged and motivated. The session provided an opportunity for the audience to interact with the speaker and seek guidance on their own career paths. The alumni talk by Dr. Anshuman Kar was a resounding success, offering valuable lessons and inspiration to the audience. The event reinforced the importance of an institute’s role in shaping the careers of its students and highlighted the need for students to be proactive in developing their skills, networks, and personal brand.

The Alumni Committee extended their heartfelt thanks to the Principal and other professors and PG students for being a part of the event and helped make it a grand success. The postgraduate students Dr. Baishnabi Pattnaik and Dr. Ayesha Das have extended their continuous support for the programme.

The programme concluded with closing remarks from AVM Prof. Dr. R.C. DAS (Dean & Principal); and Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar (Professor & HOD, Department of Community Medicine). The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Krishna Mishra (Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine& FIC Alumni Committee).
