Mega Digital ‘HR Konclave’: Panel Discussions & Workshops by KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering

The School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University organized two panel discussions and ten workshops during 28th-29th August 2020 as a part of Mega Digital ‘HR Konclave 2020’. More than 30 dignitaries belonging to top leading companies from India and abroad along with more than 1500 students attended the conclave.

On 28th August, the School conducted Panel Discussion on ‘Role of Digital People Technology in Manufacturing’.  Two panels deliberated upon Cultural Perspective and Technology Perspective of the topic respectively.

The Panel-1 was moderated by Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, ED & CEO – Group Head HR, UNO Minda and the panelists included, Mr. Anil Gaur, Group Chief People Officer, Uniparts Group; Mr. Samir Kukade, President – HR, Praj Industries; Mr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President, Mahindra & Mahindra; and Mr. Chris Erikson, Director Digital (APJ), Citrix Singapore. The discussion was hosted and coordinated by Dr. P. Chandrasekhar, Associate Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering. Welcoming the panelists, Dr. Ashok K. Sahoo, Director introduced KIIT and outlined its achievements. Mr. Rajiv Kapoor spoke on the topic ‘Role of Digital People Technology in Manufacturing’. Panel members emphasized that the future of industry lied in innovation and cross disciplinary education will play an important role. They suggested students go beyond their curriculum and learn new things; groom themselves and brush up their skills. The smooth conduct of the session was ensured by Ms. Nayan Arora and Mr. Ashutosh Verma as student coordinators.

The Panel-2 was moderated by Mr. Vijay Sinha, Sr. VP – HR, JSW Steel Ltd and the panelists included, Mr. Manas Martha, Vice President & Chief of HR, TTK Prestige Ltd; Mr. Sujoy Banerjee, Group Chief People Officer, Gainwell Commosales Pvt. Ltd; Mr. Sadashib Padhee, CHRO & VP HR, Kirloskar Pneumatic; and Mr. Mohmmed Ansari, Head Information Technology & Data Analytics and Program Development, Boeing. The Panel was set with the initial context with an interesting retrospection on the ‘Industry 4.0’ by the moderator. The panelists provided an excellent coverage on how to scale up in the latest technologies and build capabilities which have business values. They focused on continuous learning and acquiring new skills. They briefed the students on the use of IOT, Cloud Computing and Big data. They also discussed the industry at the time and how technology turned out to be a game changer during these times. The discussion was hosted by Dr. P. Chandrasekhar, Associate Professor of School of Mechanical Engineering and coordinated by Mr. Prajwal Peshwe and Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Dixit as student coordinators.

On 29th August, ten workshops were conducted through different online platforms like Google Meet, Cisco Webex, and Facebook Live streaming.

The Workshop-1 titled “Becoming industry ready” had Mr. Mayur Dharmadhikari, Head of Demand Chain, HR IT, Sew Eurodrive as the resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Ashutosh Verma and jointly coordinated by Mr. Verma as student coordinator and Dr. Abhilash Swain as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-2 titled “Becoming industry ready in the area of HVAC” had Mr. Colin Mendes, Head of Human Resource, Voltas Beko as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Netra Damle and jointly coordinated by Ms. Damle as student coordinator and Dr. R.K.Sarangi as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-3 titled “Design Thinking in HR” had Ms. Manasi Das, Group HR Head, Vikas Group as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Sohini Rudra and jointly coordinated by Ms. Rudra as student coordinator and Dr. I Panigrahi as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-4 titled “Engineers – Employability Connect” had R Prabakaran, GM HR of Rane Group, Chennai as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Susree Sonali and jointly coordinated by Ms. Sonali as student coordinator and Dr. I Panigrahi as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-5 titled “HR in the workplace: Past, Present & Future” had Mr.  Mayur Lokhande, Head, HR (India, UK & Thailand), Robertshaw as resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Amit Sutar and jointly coordinated by Mr. Sutar as student coordinator and Dr. S.Tripathy as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-6 titled “Preparing for Placements & becoming Industry Ready” had Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, AVP – Corporate HR, Jindal Stainless Ltd., as a resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Prajwal Sanjay Peshwe and jointly coordinated by Mr. Prajwal as student coordinator and Dr. D. K. Das as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-7 titled: “The New Normal: Rebooting HR for Business Unusual” had Ms. Minakshi Arora, CHRO of Trident Group as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Nayan Arora and jointly coordinated by Ms. Nayan as student coordinator and Dr. D.K. Rathore  as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-8 titled: “Emerging Battery Technologies for Energy Storage” had Dr. Rashi Gupta, Founder & MD, Vision Mechatronics as resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Anubhav Kumar and jointly coordinated by Mr. Anubhav as student coordinator and Dr. D. Sahu as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-9 titled: “Succession Planning: Developing talent from within” had Vinay Ranjan, Director Personnel, Eastern Coal Field Ltd., as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Adwitiya Dwivedi and jointly coordinated by Ms. Dwivedi as student coordinator Dr. S.Tripathy as faculty coordinator.

The Workshop-10 titled “HR in the workplace: Past, Present and Future” had Rupesh Panambur, GM – HR, Yazaki India as resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Mayank Kumar Sharma and jointly coordinated by Mr. Sharma as student coordinator and Dr. Prakash Ghosh as faculty coordinator.

Dr. P. Chandrasekhar, Associate Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, coordinated the Panel Discussions and Workshops. Dr. D.K. Das, Associate Professor, Dr. Amlan Panda, Dr. Aswini Kumar, Assistant Professors; Mr. B.N Das  Deputy Superintendent; Prof. P.R.Sahoo and Dr. Surya from School of Management, KIIT-DU were the faculty coordinators. Mr. Pradeep Sreedhar, Deputy Director CR, from corporate relations KIIT-DU acted as the interface between the speakers and the School. Mr.  Apurv Singh was the overall student coordinator with 50 volunteers from final, pre-final and the 2nd year of SME.
