KIIT Team Bags Runners-up Position in National Virtual Design Competition – BAJA
The BAJA SAE Team of KIIT Deemed to be University – Juggernaut Racing – participated in the National Virtual Design Competition – BAJA organized by FMAE and bagged the Overall Runners-Up Position in the competition. The competition, held nationwide by the Fraternity of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers (FMAE), simulates real-world engineering design projects and their challenges. With each team having an identical engine, the real test comes down to the design of the car itself, which includes accounting for the vehicle’s frame, suspension, steering, drivetrain/powertrain, operator comfort, brakes, and other systems vital to its operation
In the final round, the team showcased their prototype of a rugged single-seat, off-road recreational four-wheel vehicle and was evaluated on various parameters, including engineering design, CAE, cost, and technology innovation. In addition, it made its mark in various sub-divisions: 1st in Frame, Power-train, Creativity, Manufacturability, System Integration and 2nd in Suspension, Brakes, Aesthetics.
This extraordinary achievement by Team Juggernaut Racing, School of Mechanical Engineering was possible due to the hard work of their Faculty Advisor, Dr. Isham Panigrahi, the Mentors (alumni and students) and team members.
