KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering Organizes ‘Online Project Expo-2020’

The School of Mechanical Engineering (SME), KIIT Deemed to be University organized the ‘Online Project Expo-2020’ on 17th October 2020. Project Expo e-Proceedings were also released on this occasion. In view of the pandemic situation, the School level Project Expo was conducted over an online platform and was witnessed by nearly 400 participants.

Inaugurating the event, Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU said, “One day industries will cover the Project Expo and give placement opportunities to the students by looking at their project work”. In view of the present day scenario, he expressed his happiness on the successful organization of Project Expo and the publication of the e-proceedings by the School of Mechanical Engineering. He commended the School for setting an example in organizing such types of events.

Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU congratulated the School and the Project organizing team for successfully organizing the event and motivated the participants with his talk.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Akshaya Kumar Rout, FIC UG Project, provided details about the Project Expo-2020 and the proceedings. Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Director, School of Mechanical Engineering, extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and members present in the meeting and congratulated all the faculty members, such as Dean & Dean-Research (Prof B.C.Routara & Prof P.C.Mishra) and all B.Tech Programme heads (Prof Diptikanta Das, Prof Isham Panigrahi, Prof Mrutyunjay Jena & Prof P. Chandrasekhar). He highlighted the progress of the School in the field of research, project and developments and also encouraged the faculty members and students to keep up the trend.

Some selected projects were showcased by the students. The entire session was anchored and coordinated by Prof. Smaranika Nayak. The event ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Bharat Chandra Routara, Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering.

This year, around 110 projects were developed in the School by different groups of students with the help of their supervisors. After preliminary screening by the review committee, 50 projects got selected for publication in the Project Expo proceedings in the form of a book with ISBN, edited by the team of Project FICs comprising Dr. Akshaya Kumar Rout, Dr. Swayam Bikash Mishra, Dr. Anish Pandey, Dr. Amlana Panda & Dr. Sambit Kumar Mohapatra.

The Project Expo provided a platform for the 2020 pass out students to showcase their final year project works. The project works covered diverse fields of Mechanical Engineering starting from hard and sustainable machining, spray impingement, Non-conventional machining processes, All terrain landmine and explosive detection Robotics,  bio medical applications, Bio-fuels, Energy and emission,  Heat transfer analysis, Energy harvesting, Additive manufacturing, Nanofluids & MQL, Sustainable supply chain model, Industrial safety model using IoT, Formula student racing car, Rough terrain vehicle & unmanned aerial vehicle, Android controlled Robotic transportation vehicle, Design and analysis of single lumen microcatheter, Polymer and metal matrix composites, Advanced materials, aerospace and mechatronics projects, etc.
