KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering Organizes Colloquium Lecture Series

Dr. Prabaha Sikder, Asst.Professor, Cleveland State University delivered a virtual technical talk titled “Multifunctional Orthopedic Biomaterials” under the Colloquium Lecture series of Academic Year 2021-22 organized by School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT-DU on September 25, 2021.

Starting with a brief on Antibacterial Bio-compatible Implant coating, he talked about the problem faced by the human being with Surgical Site infection (SSI) at the place of surgery. He emphasized how to avoid pre-dominant way of SSI treatment in health care without second surgery by introducing anti-bacterial coating on orthopaedic implants. He also discussed the microwave assisted coating process. He had also briefly discussed the 3D printing of design specific polymer ceramic electro active implant and role of endogenous electric signal in wound healing.  

Professor Bharat Chandra Routara, Dean, SME appreciated Prof. Sikder for his valuable talk and Dr. Spandan Guha the coordinator of the ‘Colloquium Lecture’ series moderated the engaging interaction session followed by the talk.
