KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering Organizes AICTE ATAL-FDP on ‘3D Printing and Design for Advanced Manufacturing

The School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT-DU organizes a six-day AICTE ATAL Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “3D Printing and Design for Advanced Manufacturing,” which is being held from September 16th to 21st, 2024. The program aims to enhance the participants’ understanding of advanced manufacturing techniques and the role of 3D printing in modern industry.

The inaugural session was marked by insightful addresses from esteemed dignitaries. Prof. (Dr.) Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal, Vice Chancellor of OUTR, Odisha, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the expansive scope of 3D printing and its practical applications in contemporary manufacturing systems. Prof. (Dr.) Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Pro-Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU, emphasized the significance of additive manufacturing across various sectors, underscoring its transformative potential.

Dr. B. Surekha, Dean of the KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering, delivered a welcome address that outlined the university’s contributions to learning and its state-of-the-art research facilities. Her address set a positive tone for the program, showcasing the institution’s commitment to advancing engineering education and research.

Dr. Bijaya Bijeta Nayak, the Coordinator of the ATAL FDP, provided a detailed overview of the program’s objectives and underscored the importance of 3D printing in the field of manufacturing. The event saw the release of a book titled Advancements in 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, authored by Dr. Bijaya Bieta Nayak. The book was unveiled by the esteemed dignitaries, adding a valuable resource to the field of additive manufacturing.

The FDP gathered 50 participants from various institutions across Odisha, reflecting a strong interest in the subject. The program included a series of sessions designed to provide practical insights and theoretical knowledge about 3D printing and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Dr. Rahul, Co-Coordinator of the FDP, concluded the event by expressing gratitude to all participants and dignitaries. His acknowledgment highlighted the collaborative efforts that made the event successful and reinforced the program’s impact on advancing knowledge in the field.
