KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering Conducts Orientation Programme for B. Tech 3rd Semester Students

KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering organized an Orientation Program for 3rd Semester B. Tech. students (Lateral Entry) on 13th September 2021 through Google meet platform. The objective of the program was to inform the students about various opportunities and prospects of the course and introduce them into different activities that are conducted at school level for their benefit.

Prof. B. C. Routara, Dean, SME welcomed the students to the orientation program and briefed about various activities like course curriculum, B.Tech. projects, research and consultancies, choice-based learning system, student technical chapters, minor specialization, student-faculty ratio, faculty index, etc. Detail about the B.Tech. project; viz. minor projects (6th Semester), project-I (7th Semester) and project-II (8th Semester) and the importance of the project along with value-additions like publications and participation in university level student expo,  national level technical events were also explained.

Prof. I. Panigrahi, Program Head, Mechanical (Automobile) Engineering discussed the importance of research, publications and student participation in different Car Racing events, collaborations of SME with different MNC, etc. Prof. P. C. Shekhar, Programme Head, Mechatronics Engineering and Associate Dean, T&P briefed students about the placement scenario of the school with some recent data, summer internship programme, pre placement activities for students, etc. Prof. M. Jena, Programme Head, Aerospace Engineering talked about various prospects of Mechanical Engineering, student life within campus, different cultural events conducted in school, student exchange programmes with foreign universities, etc.

Prof. Spandan Guha, Tutor Mentor detailed the importance of GATE examination, Class room coaching for GATE examination, opportunity to join different PSUs through GATE exam and about the online courses developed by the School for enhancing employment skills. Prof. Smitirupa Pradhan informed students about the recent course curriculum. The event ended with a vote of thanks.
