Alumni Talk at KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering
KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering conducted their sixth talk under the ‘Alumni Talk Series’ on 5thAugust 2022 in collaboration with the KIIT Alumni Association. Dr. Somen Kumar Bhudolia delivered the talk on the topic “Thin-ply thermoplastic composites: Current trends and future perspectives”. He discussed the importance of composites in manufacturing aero components, sports items and safety devices like helmets. He illustrated the characteristics of Thin-ply composites prepared with two different binders. He also conveyed his gratitude towards KIIT for his success, praised the alumni connect initiative, and discussed its importance in the professional and personal life of alumni.
Dr. Somen Kumar Bhudolia received his PhD in Smart Materials in 2017 from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore which is sponsored by Arkema, France. He completed his MSc. in Aerospace Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and Technical University of Munich, Germany (Joint Degree Program). He did his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in 2009. He has been working as Research Fellow (Polymer and Advanced Composites) at NTU, Singapore since November 2017.
The talk followed a question-answer session. Prof. Bharat Chandra Routara, Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering also interacted with students and alumni. The session was coordinated and moderated by Prof. Prakash Ghose, Alumni Coordinator.
