KIIT School of Humanities Organizes International Webinar
The School of Humanities, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University organized an International Webinaron ‘New Agriculture Acts 2020: A Multidimensional Approach’ on 28th November 2020. The webinar aimed at sharing of perspectives among participants from diverse fields on contributions of the new policies towards development of the country. It was graced by Prof. Hrushikesh Mohanty, VC, KIIT-DU; Prof. Sudarshan Nanda, Head, Research & Professor of Eminence; Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar; and Prof S. C. Swain, Associate Dean & Webinar Advisor, KIIT School of Humanities.
Dr. Manoj Dora, Director, Collaborative Projects and Outreach, Brunel Business School, London; Dr. Pratap Singh Birthal, ICAR National Professor, National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, New Delhi; and Dr. Abhik Mazumdar, Assistant Professor of Law, National Law University, Cuttack were the guest speakers.
Dr. Manoj Dora expressed his views on circular food economy, while pointing out how the Acts may help in reducing food wastage. Dr. Pratap Singh Birthal threw light on “Political Economy of Agrarian Reforms” and replied to the query, ‘Will the farmers having lesser land holding get benefit from recent market reforms?’ Dr. Abhik Mazumdar discussed the legal aspects of the New Agriculture Acts, 2020. The Technical Session was chaired by Dr. Swapnomayee Palit, Assistant Professor and moderated by Ms. Sugyanta Priyadarshani, Research Associate, KIIT-DU.
The webinar started with the welcome note by Convener, Dr. Smrutirekha Mohanty, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Humanities, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Co-convener, Dr. Ananya Mitra, Assistant Professor.
