KIIT School of Electronics Organizes Kweet Talk on ‘Automotive Electronics: Emerging Trends & Opportunities’
KIIT School of Electronics Engineering brought together Mr. Murali Balasubramanian, India Innovation Head, Stellantis; Dr. Rajeev Kumar Srivastava, Director/Integral Project Manager, NXP Semiconductors India Pvt. Ltd; Mr. M. S. Ashok, Director, Zuken India Private Ltd.; Mr. Anil Ammina, Managing Director, BE Analytic; and Mr. Sushanta Kumar Sarkar, Senior Expert – Vehicle Motion Control, Robert Bosch Engineering; and Business Solutions Private Limited on its first ‘Kweet Talk’ platform on 6th February 2021 to deliberate on the topic ‘Automotive Electronics: Emerging Trends & Opportunities’.
The dignitaries put forward their views on automotive electronics, in relation to the electronics industry. Deliberations were made on automotive electronics innovations such as autonomous driving, all-electric vehicles and in-car infotainment. “These vehicles are transforming into ‘Ultimate Electronic Devices’ and promise commendable ease and efficiency in comparison to older versions of vehicles”, the experts commented.
The focus is now shifting to automotive electronics which is estimated to represent about a third of the overall cost of the whole vehicle in the coming years. The awareness and visibility of such technologies are expanding widely in this era of technological advancements. The special advanced features of the vehicle having automotive electronics include adaptive cruise control, park assistance, lane maintenance assistance, pedestrian detection and traffic signal recognition, elucidated the speakers.
“It is about connecting the occupant and the driver in the vehicle to the infrastructure and the external world”, said Mr. Murali Balasubramanian. “Verification and validation of algorithms which are developed are the real challenge to detect the behaviour beforehand which will boost confidence at least equal to standard driver”, remarked Mr. Sushanta Kumar Sarkar.
Mr. Rajeev Kumar Srivastava said, “High end radar system to detect obstacles integrated with high processing systems to check on ranges to be considered to ensure perfect information management”. Mr. M. S. Ashok explained, “Hardware designing and analysis will remain the ever booming segment in this field. Packaging all of this into a chip is very challenging”. The speakers took a number of questions from the students and agreed to come and meet again with them.
Earlier, Mr. Debraj Mitra, Dy. Director – Corporate Relations, KIIT welcomed the speakers, followed by introduction and video of the School by Dr. Suprava Patnaik, Dean. The session was moderated by Dr. Patnaik. Mr. Sanjay Muthal gave the concluding remarks and shared his views on automotive electronics. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Arindam Basak, Associate Dean, T&P. The event was attended by all faculty members and students of KIIT School of Electronics Engineering, as well as the members from the corporate world.
