Talk on “Backend Implementation and the VLSI Industry”

School of  Electronics EngineeringKIIT Deemed to be University organized a webinar talk on “Backend Implementation and the VLSI Industry” by Mr. Samuel Jigme Harrison, Senior Digital IC design Engineer, STMicroelectronics Asia Pacific Pvt. Ltd, Singapore on 11th September 2021. Around 45 participants comprising Master’s students, Research scholars, and faculty members attended the session. The speaker explained the importance of physical design in VLSI systems. He described the steps involved in the physical design process like placement, Power planning, Placement, Clock Tree Synthesis, Routing, Static Timing Analysis, Physical Verification, Power analysis routing, etc. He also detailed online courses available to learn IC Design and Implementation and jobs in the industry, etc.

The speaker concluded the session by sharing the different roles of Engineers in the VLSI industry and currently available opportunities and internships. Overall, the session was motivated by the knowledge and opportunities shared by the resource person. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks and was coordinated by Dr. Sukanta Kumar Sabut, Associate Professor, School of Electronics Engineering.
