KIIT School of Electrical Engineering Organizes Online Project Expo 2021
The School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University conducted the Online Project Expo-2021 on 24th April 2021. In view of the pandemic situation, the School-level Project Expo was organized online using Google Meet and was witnessed by over 100 participants. It provided a platform to the 2021 passing out students to showcase their final year project works. The project works covered different fields of Electrical Engineering such as Artificial Intelligence, Circuit Design, Power System Optimization, Power Electronic Circuitry, etc., along with application of Computer Science, viz., IoT, Machine Learning, etc.
The school arranged the evaluation in association with external examiners such as Prof. (Dr.) Sankarshan Mohapatro, Associate Professor, IIT Bhubaneswar and Prof. (Dr.) Dipankar Debnath, Assistant Professor, IIT Kharagpur. The internal Evaluation Committee comprised of Dr. Manoj K. Maharana, Dr. Tanmoy Roy Choudhury, Dr. Rudranarayan Dash, Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, Dr. Sriparna Roy Ghatak and Prof. Subhendu Bikash Santra.
This year around 61 projects were developed in the School by different groups of students with the help of their supervisors. After preliminary screening by the review committee, 30 projects were selected for publication in the Project Expo proceedings in the form of a book with ISBN, edited by the team of Project FICs (Prof. Swagat Das, Prof. Suchismita Roy, Prof. Ankit Soni, Prof. Satyabrata Sahoo and Prof. Samita Rani Pani).
At the outset, the examiners were welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Byamakesh Nayak, Dean, School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT-DU. The School always encourages real time and product oriented outcomes, which would have the societal impact as well as solving ground level difficulties, he stated. However, students have put more emphasis on simulation based studies rather than hardware due to the pandemic situation, he mentioned. Dr. Tanmoy Roy Choudhury, FIC Student Affairs, introduced the external examiners with the participants and other jury members, and also explained the importance of this Project Expo in exploring the credibility of the students.
Based on the recommendations of the internal scrutiny committee, 12 best projects were showcased in the Project Expo. The event was meticulously organized by the FICs, UG Project Prof. Geetanjali Dei and Prof. Tapaswini Biswal. It concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Rudranarayan Dash, Program Head (B. Tech.), School of Electrical Engineering. Prof. (Dr.) Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director, Quality Assurance Cell was actively involved in the whole evaluation process.
