INDISCON -2022: KIIT School of Electrical Engineering Hosts 3rd International Flagship Conference

INDISCON-2022, the flagship annual sub-sectional international conference of the IEEE India Council, was inaugurated at KIIT School of Electrical Engineering on 15th July 2022. The three-day conference is being conducted in blended mode by IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-section and hosted at School of Electrical Engineering, KIIT-DU with the support of IEEE Kolkata Section.

The meet seeks to bring researchers from all the renowned institutes of the world. Along with researchers, the professionals and executives from energy sector, manufacturing industries, electrical power companies are participating to share ideas and information pertaining to innovations on techniques to handle today’s challenges.

The first day of INDISCON-2022 began with the inauguration of a Missile Park (both indoor and outdoor) by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU in the presence of Executive Council Members of IEEE India Council and officials of ITR (DRDO) Chandipur, Balasore. It was followed by a small video presentation by ITR (DRDO) Chandipur.

Dr. Sushmita Mitra, Chair, IEEE Kolkata Section and Professor, Machine Intelligence Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata presented on the topic titled “Intelligent Analysis of Biomedical Images” in physical mode. Sumantra Dutta Roy, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi highlighted on the topic titled “Millenial Computer Vision” in virtual mode. Topic titled “Challenges and Solutions for the Microgrid” was demonstrated by Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray, Chair, IEEE Bhubaneswar Subsection and Professor, IIT Bhubaneswar in physical mode.

Kalyana C. Veluvolu, Professor, School of Electronics Engineering, Head, Intelligent Systems and Control Division, College of IT Engineering (CITE) Kyungpook National University, South Korea presented on the topic titled “Multi-dimensional (3D and 4D) tremor modelling” in physical mode. During the keynote, the topic titled “Analysis of IoT-Based Load Altering Attacks Against Power Grids” was presented by Dr. Subhash Lakshminarayana, Professor, School of Engineering, University of Warwick, UK in virtual mode.

Prof.  Debi Prosad Dogra, Technical Program Chair, briefed about the accepted papers and thanked all the reviewers and team for completing the process within the timeline. Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray, General Chair, INDISCON 2022 highlighted the different activities of IEEE Bhubaneswar Subsection.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Harekrishna Ratha, Director, ITR (DRDO) Chandipur spoke about interdisciplinary research and advised young minds to understand the fundamentals and concepts of their core area. He thanked Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS  for establishing a global institution like KIIT in the state of Odisha. He also thanked Prof. Sasmita Samanta for hosting INDISCON-2022.

Prof. Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Former Director General, CPRI, Bangalore urged about the scope for core competency of any discipline and to explore innovative ideas in IEEE platform. Release of INDISCON Proceedings and felicitation of dignitaries was also done on the occasion. Prof.  Sushmita Mitra, Chair, IEEE Kolkata Section thanked IEEE Bhubaneswar subsection and KIIT-DU for organizing INDISCON-2022 in a planned manner.

Dr. Suresh Nair, IEEE India Council Chair appreciated the organizing committee for smooth conduct of the meet and urged to increase the number of graduate membership. Kalyana C. Veluvolu, Professor, South Korea appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for making the conference a grand success. Shri Deepak Mathur, Director, IEEE Region 10 highlighted the objectives behind the INDISCON 2022.

Earlier, Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Chair, Organizing Committee, INDISCON-2022 extended a warm welcome to esteemed members of IEEE India Council, IEEE Kolkata Section, IEEE Bhubaneswar Subsection, delegates and participants and invitees. Prof. Tripti Swarnkar extended words of thanks. 

IEEE India Council is the umbrella organization that coordinates IEEE activities in India. The mission of the IEEE Kolkata Section is to spread IEEE Activities to all remote corners through educational activities, human networking, and to develop technology and its applications for humanitarian challenges.  IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-Section came into existence on 21st November 2015 with a great effort from the IEEE community in Odisha. Currently,  the Sub-Section has five numbers of the society viz. IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES),  IEEE Industrial Electronics  Society (IES),  IEEE  Consumer Technology Society (CoTS), IEEE  Power Electronics Society (PELS), IEEE Communications and Computer Societies Joint Chapter.
