KIIT School of Computer Engineering Organizes Counselling & Interactive Session for Students

A virtual counseling and interactive session was organized by KIIT School of Computer Engineering for its B.Tech 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students on 24th March 2021. Speaking at the counselling session, Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counselling, KIIT made the students aware of the Counselling Cell at KIIT Deemed to be University. Since its inception in 2018, Counselling Cell has been providing continuous support to deal with the anxiety, emotional, behavioural, relationship and many other issues that students face in their day to day life. The Cell also facilitates international academic exposure for students through higher studies, internship and cultural exchange programmes, she informed.

Taking the interactive session, Mr. Amar Chhajer, a 2005 batch alumnus of KIIT, discussed his ideas and experiences with the students for enhancing their career opportunities. Mr. Chhajer, who is currently working as the Country Head of UST Global in Malaysia, discussed the students’ opportunities to enhance their career skill sets for settling abroad after their graduation. He also focused on the importance of higher studies opted by students in a world-class premier institution.

Stating that the current crisis on overseas job opportunities is a temporary phenomenon, he discussed his experiences and journey from becoming a Graduate to a country head of an MNC while emphasizing the role of selecting the right company after graduation. He advised the students on issues like ‘Structuring the employment opportunities to get overseas faster’, ‘Getting a job first then go on-site projects’, ‘Trying to land on good MNC companies with expanded project opportunities’, ‘Enhancing the soft skills as the MNC companies look for candidates with better analytical skills’, and ‘Joining the company with an intention to add value to it’.

Mr. Chhajer was delighted to be a part of the sensitization program. Expressing pride to be the alumnus of a world-class university like KIIT, he said that he is deeply influenced by philanthropic work of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, specifically ‘Art of Giving’. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Ajay Kr. Parida. Prof. Jay Sarraf, Prof. Sagar Pattnaik, Prof. Digvijay and Prof. Ajay Anand along with other faculty members of the School were also present.
