Chapter Inaugurated at KIIT

The inauguration of the IEEE Computer Society KIIT Student Branch Chapter, held on 28th February 2026, was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Shri Harekrushna Ratha, and Prof. Biswajit Sahu.

Shri Harekrushna Ratha, Former Director of ITR Chandipur and Advisor to the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section, highlighted the regional significance of IEEE and its pivotal role in accelerating Odisha’s technological advancement by connecting local talent to a global platform. Prof. Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Former Director General, CPRI, Bangalore, and Advisor to the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section, motivated young minds to actively engage in IEEE activities to develop leadership skills and expand their professional networks.

Mr. Jayanta Kumar Panda, Managing Director of Athrvcloud Private Limited, delivered an insightful virtual talk titled “AI-Powered Ecosystem for Transforming Technical Education and Industry Synergy.” Cybersecurity entrepreneur Mr. Rupesh Meher addressed the growing concerns surrounding cybercrime in contemporary society.

Prof. Biswajit Sahu, Director General, School of Computer Engineering, KIIT DU, encouraged students and professionals to leverage IEEE’s extensive resources to stay technologically competitive. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty emphasized IEEE’s vital role in fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and professionals, thereby driving innovation across domains such as artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, healthcare, and telecommunications.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, who outlined IEEE’s conferences, workshops, and research opportunities. Dr. Amiya Ranjan Panda, Advisor, IEEE Computer Society KIIT Student Branch Chapter, elaborated on the benefits of joining the Chapter. During the Immersive Orientation and Membership Drive, Prof. Shakuntala Mohapatra spoke about opportunities for women volunteers, while Dr. Pratap Ranjan Mohanty demonstrated IEEE vTools. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members across various schools. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Lubdhak Nairith Saha Arnish, Chair, IEEE CS KIIT SBC.
