KIIT School of Civil Engineering Students Shine at National Level Structural Designing Competition

A team of four students – Soham De, Debdatta Chakraborty, Sourav Paul and Shubham Singh – from School of Civil Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University won a National Level Structural Designing Competition organized by Institute for Steel Development and Growth (INSDAG), Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India. The team was guided by Prof. P. Saha.

The competition consisted of two rounds in which 41 different colleges from all over India participated including several IITs and NITs. The KIIT team reached the final rounds along with 14 other finalists to present their design on 20th March 2021 and secured the 3rd position. They received the prestigious award from Mr. Pritish Sen, President, INSDAG in the presence of Mr. Somnath Mukherjee, Technical Director & HOD, MN Dastur and a panel of jury members from IIT BHU, Jadavpur and other institutes.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Debdatta Chakraborty said that steel has become an integral part of our civilization, while emphasizing that there is a need to create awareness on steel design and construction among students.

This was the third time KIIT won this competition under the guidance of Dr. P. Saha. Students reached the final rounds for the 6th consecutive time in a row. Dr. S. Moulick, Dean, School of Civil Engineering and other faculties and staff members of the School congratulated all the awardees and their faculty mentor for their accomplishment.
