KIIT School of Civil Engineering Organizes Virtual Alumni Meet
KIIT School of Civil Engineering organized a Virtual Alumni Meet for 2014 pass out Batch on 14th March 2021 on ZOOM platform. The event was graced by Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director, Consultancy Services, KIIT; Dr. Sanjib Moulick, Dean, KIIT School of Civil Engineering; Dr. Shyam Sunder Behura, Deputy Director, Student Services; and Dr. D. K. Bera, Associate Dean, Training and Placement, SCE. The meet was attended by about 90 alumni and 50 students.
Addressing the alumni, Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra presented the consultancy works of the school in the recent past. Prof. Sanjib Moulick outlined the technological and academic progress the School has made. Dr. Shyam Sunder Behura welcomed the participants to the virtual alumni meet and wished the alumni great success in their lives.
Many alumni were invited to share their experience and views with the students of the School. Mr. Ankit Agarwal shared his work experience in Bahrain and advised the juniors to take their studies seriously as that may prove to be the pivotal axis in their careers. Mr. Bitan Ghosh, who has achieved a feat of being one of the best entrepreneurs of the country, said, it is important to have a planned future and to take things one at a time. Ms. Shreya Pipri, the topper of 2014 batch who is currently working in the MORTH, expressed her gratitude to the School for guiding her so well and playing a vital role in achieving her current work position.
Mr. Dev Shekhar Shukla, who is working with Sharpoorji Pallonji group of companies, remembered his college days and told his juniors to focus on practical as well as theoretical topics thoroughly. Mr. Abhishek Pradhan, currently an employee of L&T, stated how his teachers helped him to grow in his career. Ms. Payel Mallik and Mr. Saurabh Anand suggested that the school should introduce new subjects in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS Technology that has great demand in the present day. Mr. Arya Dutta shared his professional experiences and explained how KIIT shaped his professional career.
Ms. Pratyasha, who is doing a PhD in KIIT itself and worked on research projects with NASA, spoke on the importance of the basic concepts before tackling the advanced part. Mr. Abinash Swain and Mr. Satwik Mattagajasingh talked about the importance of valuation in Civil Engineering and recommended to include the same in the curriculum.
The event ended with the vote of thanks by Prof. D. K. Bera. The virtual meet was anchored by Mr. Harshit Kishlay and Ms. Shubhra Sharma.
