“Food, Water and Energy Security” at KIIT School of Civil Engineering
Prof. Debasmita Mishra, University of Alaska Fairbanks, USA delivered a technical talk on “Food, Water and Energy Security” organized by KIIT School of Civil Engineering on 12th January, 2018.
Addressing the audience, Prof. Mishra said,
“We lack certain regulations as we are polluting the water by various means. Consequently, we are buying different diseases by drinking the contaminated water every now and then.” As water is going to diminish gradually from earth, we should resolve to preserve water for the sake of our next generation.
He asserted that we can reclaim the land which can be used for agricultural purposes. He said, “You people are the future engineers and you have the responsibility to reclaim the land and secure water, food and energy. If we can ensure the security of food, energy and water, our national economy would be secured.”
He emphasized for maximum utilization of Bio Resource Energy as a viable pollution free source.
In his welcome speech, Dean, KIIT School of Civil Engineering, Prof. Banu Gopal Mohapatra remarked, “Prof. Mishra possesses rich experience and expertise in his domain, i.e. Water Resources Engineering. Though he is physically staying in United States of America for the last 30 years, but by birth and by heart he is an Odia.”
At the outset, the Coordinator of KIIT Society for Civil Engineers Assoc. Prof. (Ms.) Gnanaprabha Samal, introduced the Guest, Prof. Mishra to the audience comprising of faculties and students of the School of Civil Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University.
